Amalfi Coast Day Tour on Tripadvisor

Just as beautiful and not as busy, the beaches of Maiori and Minori

Beaches of Maiori and Minori: the most family friendly of the Amalfi Coast

Maiori and Minori beaches are the most family-friendly onnes on the Amalfi Coast

The Amalfi Coast boasts some of the most family-friendly beaches, Maiori and Minori beaches being good examples. Stretching nearly a kilometer, this sandy expanse is adorned with various bathing establishments, offering a unique waterfront distinct from other Amalfi Coast beaches.

The distinctive shape of Maiori’s beach is a consequence of a catastrophic flood and subsequent landslide in 1954. This event reshaped the seafront, creating the flat terrain we see today. Families, especially those with young children, are drawn to Maiori’s sandy shores, abundant beachfront hotels, and restaurants.

Unlike Maiori’s altered landscape, Minori has retained the traditional charm of coastal villages. Characterized by winding lanes and squares sloping down to the beach and seafront promenade, Minori offers a preserved glimpse into the area’s history.

Erchie beach

Erchie beach

Erchie, a small fishing village and part of Maiori, features one of the Amalfi Coast’s most beautiful beaches. Guarded by two Saracen towers, Erchie’s 200-meter-long beach enjoys clean waters and abundant sunshine until late afternoon. In addition to bathing establishments, there is a stretch of free beach, accompanied by casual eateries serving delectable fish specialties.

How to get to Erchie beach

To reach Erchie, take the road branching off SS163 between Cetara and Maiori. By car, follow SS163, spotting the Erchie turnoff three kilometers after Cetara. Parking is available in town, with a short walk down to the beach. For public transport, the Salerno – Amalfi bus line drops you off at the main road junction, requiring a walk down to the beach.

Maiori beach

Maiori beach

Maiori beach, extending 930 meters with a width of 40 meters, stands out as one of the rare sandy beaches on the Amalfi Coast. Dominated by bathing establishments, it includes two narrow strips of free beach at its ends. Kiosks in both bathing establishments and free areas offer refreshments.

How to get to Maiori beach

Located opposite Maiori town, Maiori beach is accessible by car. Exit the A3 motorway at Vietri sul Mare and head towards Maiori, finding ample parking options. Alternatively, public transport via Sita coach company’s Salerno – Amalfi line is available.

Minori beach

Minori beach

Minori beach, spanning 250 meters, features three bathing establishments in the middle, while the rest of the beach is free. Facing south, Minori beach enjoys sunshine for most of the day. While there, a visit to Salvatore De Riso’s pastry shop is a must for sampling the renowned delicacies crafted by the Amalfi Coast’s most famous pastry chef.

How to get to Minori beach

To reach Minori beach, drive along SS163 from Vietri, passing Maiori. Pay for parking on the blue lines or in one of the town’s three car parks. Public transport options include Sita coach company’s Salerno – Amalfi line.

So should you go to the Maiori and Minori beaches? Yes!

As the sun sets over the enchanting Amalfi Coast, these family-friendly beaches weave tales of joy, laughter, and cherished moments. Whether you find yourself basking in the sun-kissed sands of Maiori, exploring the quaint lanes of Minori, or relishing the seaside tranquility of Erchie, each beach offers a unique chapter in the coastal narrative.

So, whether you’re building sandcastles with little ones, savoring the catch of the day in Erchie, or indulging in delectable pastries in Minori, the Amalfi Coast’s family-friendly beaches invite you to create timeless memories. As the evening unfolds, carrying the echoes of laughter and the warmth of shared experiences, it’s a reminder that the Amalfi Coast not only captivates with its natural beauty but also with the precious moments etched in the sands of its welcoming shores.
