Amalfi Coast Day Tour on Tripadvisor

Map of Amalfi Coast

Map of Amalfi Coast

Spanning from the tip of the Peninsula of Sorrento to the town of Vietri sul Mare, the Amalfi Coast is situated 50 kilometers south of Naples, north of the Cilento peninsula, and to the east of Salerno. The terrain comprises limestone cliffs, Mediterranean vegetation, inlets carved into the coastline, and towns nestled on the cliffsides.

The Amalfi Coast is home to 13 settlements: Amalfi, Atrani, Cetara, Conca de’ Marini, Furore, Maiori, Minori, Positano, Praiano, Ravello, Scala, Tramonti, and Vietri sul Mare.

Along the SS163 highway, which goes from Piano di Sorrento to Vietri sul Mare, these towns are easily accessible. Amalfi is positioned midway along this highway, constructed between 1832 and 1850. Before its existence, mule tracks connected the villages, now transformed into hiking trails, including the Path of the Gods. A drive along the coastline takes about 90 minutes, excluding stops exploration or photo.

To reach Ravello, Tramonti, Furore, and Agerola, one must traverse roads ascending the slopes of the Lattari Mountains. The feature of the Amalfi Coast is its landscape, featuring villages clinging to the water’s edge, towering cliffs, and coves along the shoreline. Numerous villages boast more staircases than actual streets in their centers.

Acknowledged as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the entire Amalfi Coast stands as a testament to its cultural and natural significance.
